British business titan Carolyn Fairbairn named new Mencap chair

Dame Carolyn Fairbairn DBE has been appointed as the new Chair of Trustees at Royal Mencap Modern society this early morning.

Fairbairn will get around from Derek Lewis, who completes his eight-yr expression as Chair in the summer time. She joins at a time when Mencap has embarked on a new transformative method with an ambitious vision for the United kingdom to be the greatest position for individuals with a studying incapacity to direct delighted and wholesome lives.    

From 2015 to 2020, Dame Carolyn was Director-General of the Confederation of British Marketplace, the UK’s largest enterprise organisation, in which she represented company on problems ranging from the UK’s buying and selling marriage with the EU and sustainability, to variety and inclusion in the place of work.  

She has also been a Trustee of Marie Curie Cancer a member of the Govt Board at ITV BBC Director of Tactic exactly where she led the BBC’s digital approach and ahead of that was at McKinsey, where she was a associate and leader of its British isles media exercise.

She has also worked in the Selection 10 Coverage unit, where she oversaw health and social products and services coverage, and is presently a Non-Executive Director of HSBC.  

Dame Carolyn spent her early job with the World Lender and as a journalist with The Economist magazine.   

Talking of her appointment, Dame Carolyn said: “It is a terrific honour to be becoming a member of Mencap at this very important time.
